REGISTRATION GOING STRONG |
Registration for the 2012 Frederick Running Festival is going strong but there is still space and time to get signed up! Runners continue to register for all distances and our multi-race options are proving to be very popular!
More than 35% of all registered runners have signed up for more than one race, be it the Nut Job (5K and Half-Marathon) the Maryland Double (Frederick Half & Baltimore Full or Half), or the Titanium Girl (the Frederick Half and the IronGirl Half). What that says to us is there are a lot of dedicated runners out there (or at least a bunch who like their medals!).
If you have not registered yourself or you know someone who has not registered yet, there is no time like the present! Rates increase at the end of the month! REGISTER TODAY at our website.

OFF-SITE BIB PICK UP LOCATIONS ANNOUNCED Convenience is the Name of the Game |
Once again, we will host several off-site race bib/timing chip pick ups at running store locations across the region. We experimented with this option last year and received rave reviews from our participants so we are ready to do it again in 2012! We are excited to be able to offer this option again and have a new game plan to help alleviate some of the distribution issues from last year.

ON-SITE EXPO |
|
|
Saturday, May 5 |
Bldg. 9 at the Fairgrounds * |
Frederick, MD |
PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT pick up your shirt at the off-site locations. (Small stores and LOTS of shirts in race and gender specific boxes just don't mix!). Runners who come to a running store to get their race bibs will pick up their shirts after the race in tents in the infield. (this is a new, improved post-race distribution location than last year). * If you would like to receive your shirt prior to race day, you always have the option to attend the expo on Saturday where you will be able to pick it up that day.
By allowing runners to pick up shirts at the expo, coupled with the fact that the 5K and the kids fun run participants will be out of the mix on Sunday, we believe we will avoid the long lines that plagued last year's race day shirt distribution. Also moving this process out of Building 9 to tents in the infield should help spread out the crowd as well.

ON-COURSE TRAINING RUNS SCHEDULED Frederick Steeplechasers to Provide Support |
In 2012, we will continue our long standing tradition of hosting supported on-course training runs to help you prepare for race day. With the help of the Frederick Steeplechasers, we will schedule four supported course training runs prior to race day. The runs are FREE and open to the public and will include varying distances. Prior to each run, If the Shoe Fits, the official Run Specialty Store of the Frederick Running Festival, will be on hand to provide some race related tips and tricks that will also help prepare you for the Big Day in May.

The Steeplechasers will provide water/Gatorade stops on the course as well as some turn-by-turn maps for the suggested distances. Keep in mind you are free to adjust the distance to better fit with your individual training schedule but support cannot be guaranteed in those cases. It is also worth noting that these are NOT CLOSED COURSES so we ask that everyone adhere to traffic rules and use common sense while running on the streets.
We are thrilled that the Frederick Steeplechasers have stepped up to help us continue the tradition of being able to provide these opportunities and hope you will join us on our training runs! More detailed information will be posted on our website and in next month's e-news.

SOMETIMES YOU FEEL LIKE A NUT The Return of the Nut Job Challenge |
Over the years, we have learned that some of our participants are certifiably nuts! Many of you can't get enough running and are always looking for the next challenge. Well, now we have just the thing for you!
We are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Frederick Nut Job Challenge. Runners who complete both the Half-Marathon on Sunday and the Twilight 5K on Saturday will receive a special Nut Job race bib valid for both events AND earn a custom Nut Job medal. Medals will be distributed following the completion of the half marathon. Your special bib will help our volunteers and eveyone else identify you as a Nut Job (and let them know to run the other way... very quickly!).
HOW TO REGISTER:
- From the online registration page of the website, you will see a special category called Nut Job!
Select this category and we will make sure you receive your special Nut Job race bib at pick-up. By registering using this category you will SAVE $5 OFF your total combined registration fee.
- If you have already registered for one of the race distances but did not register for the Nut Job, simply register for the other race and contact us customerservice@corrigansports.com to let us know you are a Nut Job! We will have to make the adjustment in our system manually. Please Note: If you register using this method, you waive your right to the discount.
